Kokeshi Akita 10 is a really unique bento box: it is shaped after the traditional Japanese dolls (kokeshi), which inspired the creation of the first matryoshkas.
It consists of two stacking compartments and a bowl, held together firmly by an elastic bento belt, for a safe journey to lunchtime!
Kokeshi Akita 10 bento box is perfect for a whole meal: you can use the lid either to carry more food or as an additional bowl.
Akita is the city, which named the canine breed akita inu, commonly known as akita. In Japanese akita just means “dog”. Akita is a very ancient breed in Japan, this dog is considered bringing good luck. There is a very famous akita dog in Japan: his name is Hachiko, it is considered as the symbol of canine loyalty.
Hachiko was adopted by Hisesaburo Ueno, a university professor from Tokyo. The dog had been accompanying professor Ueno to Shibuya station every day for two years, and waiting for him coming back from work. On May 21st 1925 professor Ueno suffered a stroke and suddenly died. Hachiko continued over the next ten years to walk to Shibuya station at 5 p.m. every day, to wait for his friend. Its story started to spread all over the country and it became the symbol of canine loyalty. When Hachiko died, the news ended up in the Japanese newspapers and it was declared a day of national mourning.
